Artist Bio - Dean Carroll
Currently Residing near Byron Bay in Northern NSW, Dean's first passion for the fishing, surfing and coastal lifestyle began on his travels north which landed him 7 years in Darwin, Australia's top end - The Northern Territory.
Here Dean received his chance to pursued his Tattoo career seriously with his new family at Darwin City Tattoos which also gave him the freedom to explore his love for art/paint and of course his new passion/addiction - FISHING!!!
With the combined local knowledge of local guru's and best mates Matt "Blue" Selwyn (landbased), and Benjamin Currell (Vision sportfishing charters), Deans knowledge, thirst and species list grew and grew. Spending 4 mornings a week before work land based fishing for big pelagics was pretty common for Dean and Blue - "Some mornings we would walk into the tattoo studio ready for work with 3 x metre fish slug over our shoulders. W'ed use the restaurant's fridge next door, change a shirt, and put on our artists caps for the rest of the day."
Dean's current works in the Northern rivers are all heavily influenced and based around this lifestyle. From detailed realistic fish hand drawings to large scale, loose wave paintings, Dean's artworks are finding their place among the coastal lifestyles. You can find him 4 days a week at Rock of Ages Tattoo Parlour - Lennox Head, or scouring the local ledges for some land based angling or just generally hunting waves.
